Boot loader device signature is 0x000000

Post by n7iss »

Everything looks right. Triple checked the connects but this error i all I get.

I am using an UNO atmega328P

avrdude.exe: Device signature = 0x000000
avrduse.exe: YIKES! Invalid device signature.
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
this check.

Any help would be appreciated..

Rob.

First thing have you follow the instructions https://dl2man.de/3a-trusdx-bootloader/
If no success ,post screenshots of your work, somebody may help you.
And also there are some topics in the forum about differents problems like that with
things to check. I suggest to dig a little in the troubleshooting topics about bootloader.

Almost certainly poor connections between your arduino or whatever you are using to flash the mcu.

Have a read of some of the topics in this forum - this question (or variants of) are probably the most common question asked right now.

Bottom line - buy a cheap usbasp with 6pin icsp adaptor and save yourself the hassle. This is a hard-learnt lesson - I spent an entire weekend trying to flash it with a bodged together arduino. Flashed it in ten seconds with an asp

I personally had no trouble using a Nano programmed as ISP. I even have a USB ASP device, but was having trouble getting it to be recognized (even though I previously used it to update FW on a QCX!).

I really think that using Arduino or usbasp device will work but in all cases the connections (cable) is
the key of success as these small cables for bread board are very poor . Some Arduino uno board have
the ISP connector on it this is the type i use. Bad contact can ruin the MCU easily. Be careful with static and connections.
