Can't repair (tr)uSDX so trying a Sandwich

Post by M0ICR »

Unfortunately I have been unable to repair my (tr)uSDX - I managed to misalign the two boards and have clearly 'zapped' something. The digital side of things are working in so far that the OLED is displaying information as expected and all the controls work but there's no RX or TX. I've replaced the Si5351 (that was a job!) but still no joy.

I've been looking for a replacement (tr)uSDX main board but to no avail.

So ... a friend have sent me a set of Sandwich boards, I don't think they are they latest version but they should be ok with the latest instructions on this website?

The boards I have are:

- PCB LED Rev 2.1 (is it possible to wire a common 1602 LCD, the DIP 612 displays seem hard to find!)
- Mainboard Rev 2.4
- Multiband Board Rev 2.2
(the boards are completely unpopulated)

Any thing I need to be aware of with regards those boards and those revisons?

Finally, a couple of further questions if I may ...

How does a Sandwich uSDX compare to the (tr)uSDX regarding preformance?
Can anyone recommend a source for Si5351 in the United Kingdom please?

Apologies for all the questions and grateful for any advice / guidance! Also, apologies if this post about the Sandwich is OT, should I post it elsewhere?

Hello Carl,

uSDX is on https://groups.io/g/ucx
but if you killed (tr)uSDX and can not repair it i would lie to you when i would say: Do a uSDX....
(tr)uSDX has SWR and Power and Efficiency measurements in adition and is easier to build for not so good skilled Hams :)
In uSDX you more have to know what you are doing.

The replacement board is sold by UpTech Store, the supplier of Aliexpress

I killed the AtMega and opted to order the board, which was cheaper than the option.
