uSDX, ZM 2, and Barb a watt

Post by madmike »

Hi, I was experimenting with my 9:1 efhw random wire antenna connected to the barb a watt, the barb a watt connected to the ZM2 and the ZM 2 connected to the (tr) uSDX. I first tune for max noise, then w the radio set for CW, I key up and fine tune the tuner. This seems to work, but the led tuning indicator remains on and is supposed to be very dim or out when SWR is minimal. Should I swap the barb and ZM 2? The way I have it seemed logical, but???

So instead of using a resonant antenna, you decided to go with random wire and attenuate it with the loss of 2 tuners in a row ?

Hello Manuel and OM,

no the Barb a Watt is only a SWR/Power and Dummyload as i have seen.
So your rf flow should be (tr)uSDX to Barb a Watt to ZM2 tuner to Antenna.
The only way to do :)
If your ZM2 is still showing some reflected power it's simply it can't tune exactly, because the inductance is only switched values and you can only add continiously value of a capacity in the ZM2.
I have this phenomenon also in my ZM4 and my ZM2...
