Ferrite Cores for Antennas

Post by joe49qrp »

Hi Manuel: Watched your youtube video on toroids for antennas and a weird property of ferrites popped back into my memory. The permittivity and permeability of ferrites causes the wavelength of electromagnetic waves in the material to significantly lengthen due to a decrease of the speed of these waves. I believe this was first noticed in a cyclotron RF magnetic that was being constructed of ferrite material. I have not given much thought if this effect would be seen in toroids of the size and at the frequencies used in amateur equipment. Thought you might be interested though.
