Posted new 1.0(n) schematics to Facebook (tr)uSDX group

I have uploaded updated schematics to the Facebook (tr)uSDX group; version 1.0(n). If desired, they can be added to the (tr)uSDX webpages. With the release of two RF board kits, 'high' and 'classic', schematics were updated to included separate schematics for each of the RF boards. Several other cha...

Re: More comprehensive Schematic by KD4SGE & WA4ITD

Ohwenzelph, thanks for the feedback. I am in the process of correcting a few other goofs and expanding on the schematics to include separate RF board schematics for the new Classic and Lo band options. As for the 470nF and tolerance: The capacitors are part of an RC filter. A 10% change in capacitan...

Re: Troubleshooting a dead (tr)uSDX

That is more info. When 12V is supplied, you only see 0.5V on VCC. I suggest verifying the input voltage to U2, 78L05 by measuring the voltage on the component lead, not not J1 or any other location. The idea is to verify that the component lead has not lifted and has 12V on it. It is a double check...

Re: Spontaneous sending of an endless series of dahs

One other thing that can happen, is the PCB pad for the + side of the mike is large enough that it could short to the case of the mic, thus grounding the mic input. I noticed this during assembly. I have a sheet of thin Teflon and so cut a disk to go under the mike to prevent a possible short.

Re: Sticky: Post (tr)uSDX questions for the developers (Manuel DL2MAN and Guido PE1NNZ) in here

Why can't one search for that contain relevant keywords? Most of my searches end with being told the word is too common. For example, I am in the General Information for 'firmware' and it won't do it because it is too common. Maybe so, but it is also relevant to my search and about the only keyword ...

Re: New adventures with *Rxxxx*

The efficiency from the (tr)uSDX is not accurate. But lets explain something about it. The efficiency is a calculation between the amount of power going into the RF PA (the BS170s) and the amount of power going out the SMA connector. The accuracy of the efficiency depends on the accuracy of those po...

Check DL2MAN assembly page - https://dl2man.de/2-trusdx-assembly/

The video, around the 9:20 time mark is where he talks about the display mod.

Re: Troubleshooting a dead (tr)uSDX

KN6KFR Your second post, The radio will likely operate below 4.5V but the display may have issues and band switching may not work because the relays will not toggle. The 78L05 is powered by the external power jack only. The 78L05 has built-in current limiting. The way to damage it is to apply too mu...

Re: Troubleshooting a dead (tr)uSDX

KN6KFR The radio will operate from the power on the USB port. For testing and troubleshooting, I recommend using the USB port for power. Also, check the Facebook (tr)uSDX group for the schematics, I just posted updated version 'm'. Lets start the troubleshooting by understanding the radio: The two b...

Schematics - redrawn for clarity

I, KD4SGE was introduced to the (tr)uSDX by a friend of mine, WD4ITD. While assiting him with his (tr)uSDX, I purchased one and began working with it. As we talked about the (tr)uSDX, we agreed that this is a great radio; great performance for a simple design. We both know how much work can go into ...

Beta firmware

Loaded the BETA firmware. It reports as 2.00i which is the same firmware as the normal firmware. Is there a beta?

Some expected CAT commands are not working.

I got the (tr)uSDX radio because a friend of mine had one. I have had a few issues with the radio. Have reloaded the bootloader and then the firmware, both from DL2MAN website. Was successful. Working with WSJT-X, I found that some things were not working like they do with my IC-7300. Things like se...
