Re: Feedback thread for Firmware 2.00t BETA
Hi Mike, Yes, in 2.00u when transmitting in SSB you can see the power in Watt and a number that represents the current PA bias level. If you set PA bias Max to 160 then you will often see 160 when you modulate. When you see 999, the input signal is overloaded and you should reduce the voice level to...

Re: Max input voltage on DC Power Connector....
Hi Herb, Going above the 13.8V voltage put more stress on the PA class-E MOSFET and the voltage regulator. The LT6231 opamp is generally not directly connected to the input voltage and do not suffer from this stress. Even with 30V on the input the power dissipation in the 78L05 regulator is about 1....

Re: Splatter vs. VOX (JS8Call)
Hi Cal, I am not aware that there are cat issues with js8call on Linux, and i have it running here. Can you share what firmware version you are using? You can use VOX and set the threshold with noise gate (lower value is more sensitive), but the recommended method is cat control. Did you try the lat...

Re: (tr)uSDX audio via USB
@oh2awx Hi Matti, Thanks for your contribution on github [1] to make COM ports configurable. Will integrate it in the driver, and it will definitely help people when COM8/9 is already in use. Question remains how to reconfigure the virtual COM port. @Magnus, virus scanners respond on the presence of...

Yes, RTS is still used for keying the rig, only in CW mode.Is RTS pin of CH340 still used for CW keying in 2.00u firmware?

Re: Any App-Programmers here ? #CATStreaming
Thanks for this contribution. Will give it a try tonight and possibly we can extend this a bit with com0com support and audio in tx direction. In this document https://pypi.org/project/SoundCard/ there are some hints given to reduce latency and smaller buffer sizes. Another trick could be to increas...

Re: Any App-Programmers here ? #CATStreaming
All, CAT streaming allows the (tr)uSDX to send audio over the CAT serial interface to/from the host, removing the need of audio cables while operating digital-modes from the PC, while still being able to operate CAT. On the host, an application is used to connect (tr)uSDX CAT streaming to digital mo...

Fix for internal speaker howling
A speaker howling effect may appear when using the internal speaker and volume levels above 12. It is caused by electrical and mechanical feedback from the speaker to the very sensitive receiver circuitry. The recommended solution is to use an external active speaker as proposed in this video https:...

Re: constant power SSB
Yes, at a drive setting 8, the (tr)usdx is generating a ssb signal with constant amplitude. When there is no modulation, the carrier is switched off. This is controlled by the noise gate threshold setting. Changing three noise gate setting from 4 to 0 will disable this behavior and never switch off ...

Re: Enabling VOX causes bad RX
Could it be that the Windows audio mixer settings are such that it passes the receiver audio to the sound card speaker output?
and then activating the VOX with this receiver noise?
Note that in VOX TX mode buttons presses are not effective.

Re: Iambic B on startup
Thanks for reporting.
You are correct that iambic a did not came back properly after a power cycle.
In the latest beta (2.00L), as can be found on the download page, you can find a fix for this issue.
Can you please confirm it is working now as expected?
Thanks.

Re: Horrible "birdies of death" all bands
Hi Derek, Thanks for reporting this. Yes, I can confirm the two birds around 14.287 and 3.670 MHz, and this indeed can be disturbing when tuning over the band and yes it affects the AGC around these frequencies. We will need to analyse this to find the source of this spur generation. It could be the...

Hi, It looks like you are using WSJT-X under Linux. Please be aware that the RTS/DTR settings are not effective under Linux, and keeps resetting the rig. Re: Sticky: Post (tr)uSDX questions for the developers (Manuel DL2MAN and Guido PE1NNZ) in here
Hi Dan, Thanks for congrats and reaching out to us. It would indeed be great to have Pocket RxTx support for the (tr)uSDX. The (tr)uSDX is loosly implementing the TS480 CAT protocol [1]; make sure to keep DTR stable (as it is used for resetting the rig during programming). RTS is used for keying the...

Hi John, No opposite sideband rejection and image rejection is generally be about 50dB, so it's not expected what you are seeing. You can test opposite side band rejection by listening to a strong USB signal and then switching to LSB, the signal level should degrade about 50dB. The same for tuning o...

Re: Broke my radio, part II
OK. Does it help, if you try to do a factory reset of the settings? (hold encoder button while rig is powered on). It s very strange that the relays are not working. You should check if the VCO is oscillating on the advertised frequency. If not, then some device on the I2C bus might be defect, and i...

Hi af7ux, Sorry to hear what happend. In this case it is absolutely important to make sure that the microprocessor is replaced with a genuine atmega328p or atmega328pb chip, and not one of the clones circulating. Some Arduino Nano boards carry a fake/clone 328 installed that are missing some essenti...
