New assembled unit - 3w pedestrian mobile!

Post by mojo1963 »

I received my assembled orange (tr)uSDX 2 days ago and I'm extremely happy. After adjusting the reference frequency slightly, I was able to make my first contacts. In 2 days, my best is 1600 miles to a station in Quebec, Canada from WA State with a resonant 20m stainless steel whip on the back of my Tahoe. Then for fun, I set up a pedestrian mobile set up using a AA battery power pack, a MJF-1820T whip and about 12' of counterpoise. I was transmitted 3 watts. and scored a good POTA QSO into Southern California (900+ miles). I was weak, but the QSO was logged. See pic. I attached the 12v/AAA battery tray to the back of the radio with rubber bands. 73/K7KWW
