Power and efficiency reading very high, watt meter reading "normal"

Post by Pezzep »

Using cw
into a dummy load with watt meter, I have verified calibration on the watt meter
20m on watt meter reads 4ish, on the (tr)usdx it reads 14ish watts and 99.99 efficiency

the efficiency moves around a little on 80m and 60m but still 98 99 % and pushing 14ish watts on the trusdx 7 or 8 watts on my meter

this started happening after I adjusted 20m for efficiency and out power

can some one help me figure this out

Thank you kl4lg

Make sure that the wires on T1 and T2, are scraped and soldered properly.

You should not push the (tr)uSDX for 7-8W. It´s not designed to create so much power.
Probably you´re overloading the ATMega Inputs.
Please reduce input Voltage and check if it works with reduced Power.
Besides: Do the T2 Mod viewtopic.php?t=395

I reduced the voltage to 10 vdc and the (tr)usdx still reads way high with 99% but My watt meter read lower output

I have continuity back to the atmega from the antenna side of T1 and T2 on both the FWD and RVS I will look into the T2 mod

I made the T2 mod, and all bands are now making about over four watts so 4.2 to 4 @ 10.1 vdc
except 20m meter which is sitting at 2 watts, this is according to my watt meter

the (tr)usdx is still reading 99% efficiency and 13.2ish watts on all bands

I have re soldered all the pads for T1 and T2

Then you have probably either played with RShunt Value in menu and/or not the right ratio on your Transformers. Please show a closeup picture of your both transformers.

I usually see values of more than 5W on the lower ends of a band when im runing 13.7V into it.
What should be the normal values?

Thank you for you help DL2MAN

I figured out the issue with the extremely high readings.
I was counting turns on the transformers(could not get a good picture with my digital camera) which checked out, so I reheated all the solder joints again, and this has fixed it.

I really appreciate your time and efforts when I get some spare coins I will send them your guys way

Thank you 73

How should the RShunt parameter be adjusted?
