Display problem with RF board attached after battery power

Post by DF6MZ »

Hello everyone,
I powered my SDX using a battery for the first time. The polarity was correct. But directly after applying power, my display got crazy and turned off. I did power it again with USB, the software was still working, I could change the volume, etc. I checked the components and the only thing I found was the connections of the LT6231 looked weird. I tried to resolder it, but unfortunately broke one of the contacts in the process, so I have to get a replacement now.
After trying a bit, I could power up the mainboard without the RF board attached. Turning it on and off several times, the display slowly started working again, first flickering, then showing only parts, being upside down, but finally working again. Also, it works when powered by the battery. But when I connect the RF board and apply power (also USB), the display quits again and I have to remove the RF board and switch power on and off several times before the display slowly starts working again.
Does anyone have an idea what is causing this and why?
Thanks for any help!
