Buying secondhand

Post by Murphyv310 »

Hi
I decided to buy another tr(u)SDX but this time a used model. It came with a 3D printed battery box and Li-On batteries.
That was the good side plus it's working.
The issue is it's an old firmware version and there is no callsign displayed but most of all no serial number. I contacted the previous owner only to find out he bought it from an amateur radio rally with no serial number which he didn't know about.
Does this mean I cannot update the firmware nor add in my callsign? I only have a usb connection and no Arduino for programming.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello OM Trevor,

you can find it somewhere in the menue if your firmware version is 2.00i and higher.
But i think yours will not have it, so you can simply download a firmware at dl2man.de
with a 18 times 0 as serial number: 000000000000000000
This firmware has to be programmed by usb and AVRdudess as described at the firmware web page.
After sucess you will see your true serial number because bootloader refuses to load the not correctly signed firmware. Than download the correct firmware with your serial number and your callsign (if you want to) and load it via usb => et voilà ;)

P.S.: Don't forget, you have to install a CH340 driver before you can use AVRdudess to program....

Hi
Yes it did, this brought up the radios serial number in the display, I then downloaded the the software again with the correct serial and all is well. In fact I've now got the latest software with the spectrum display. Works great.

Hi,

Following the procedure for flashing the RTX with a new firmware I get stucked into
into an undefined state where "45304A473432062B0A" is out on the display without any sign of life :-(

What can I do as recovering from this freeze ??

Tnx in advance for a suggestion/help

That number is the Radios serial. Now all you need to do is enter it where it says EEPROM on screen and reflash, job done.

No, he needs to download firmware for the serial shown in the display.
