No RX audio after ssb xmsn under CAT control until panel PPT pushed manually

I made cable per instructions for Data/external MIC use. Tried it on FT8. It appears to xmt OK, but when it switches back to rcv there is no audio until I press the PTT button on the front panel manually. When in TX mode the display shows the 'T' and there is audio being sent as monitored on another rcvr. When it switches back to receive, the display shows the 'R', but no audio until I press the PTT button, as said above. I am using the latest version of WSJT-X, the radio has version 2.0t. I set the software up with radio TS480, 11500, 8,1,N, PTT CAT, DTR high, RTS low, mode USB, split None.

To make sure it was not a CAT problem, I set up N1MM+ for using CAT to send CW and everything works properly. Once a programmed CW message is sent, the rcvr audio is OK. So I do not think it is a CAT issue.

Hardware problem, software problem or operator problem?
