Frequency alignment

I just built my first trusdx this weekend, and aligned the frequency with an SDR. The center of the transmitted signal was right on the displayed frequency (7.030). My first on the air test was trying to contact a POTA station. I had to tune 800Hz above his listed frequency to hear him - he listed 14.089 and I had to tune to 14.0898 to try and work him.
I confirmed this behavior with my KX1. The trusdx was zero beat on the transmit frequency - I could hear the carrier, but no tone.
Should I set the rig to be on the transmitted frequency, or adjust it so I produce an 800Hz tone on the desired frequency?

I just rewatched the video from Manuel. He said that the SDR must be in CW mode, so I will go back and relook tonight.
