USB Cat Control linux (Arch)

im trying to get usb cat control working on my laptop that is currently running arch linux. I followed the readme on the github page (https://github.com/threeme3/trusdx-audio/releases) changing a couple of the install commands to what I assume are the arch equivalents (sudo pacman -S pulseaudio pavucontrol portaudio, I already have python and pip installed) and then used pip to install pyserial and pyaudio. The next code to get the virtual audio works correctly but I run the python script and it says "2023-12-20 07:12:20.730166 Skip CAT response, as CAT is not active." When I open up wsjtx the com port /dev/pts/x is not available. Did I miss something?
