Yesterday I paired my kit-built HIGH BAND (tr)uSDX with an EFHW inverted vee and worked much of the USA from FL on 20m, 15m, and 10m. I'm very pleased with these results. The only criticism I have is the sidetone is distorted, actually harsh.
I keep audio volume to 11-12 and use an external headphone amplifier which avoids the dreaded howl, gives decent signal audio (----CW----), but a loud harsh sidetone.
Suggestions?
In any case MANY THANKS for an amazing radio!

Re: Improve the sidetone?
I agree. I built 3 (tr)uSDX transceivers, one for each bandplan, and right now I'm using one exclusively for Practice. The crunchy sidetone is really annoying.
Since all 3 radios have 20 meters maybe I'll try transmitting between them to see if it makes for a better practice experience.
