Hi, all.
It's been a long time since I've looked at the uSDX, and the (Tr)uSDX; it looks like things have come a long way.
When experimenting with LoRa recently, I left the LoRa device in my car, in the sun, and the 3D printed enclosure became slightly deformed.
I'd like to buy a (Tr)uSDX, but worry about the enclosure, in similar circumstances. My question is, has anyone designed a metal enclosure? I'd prefer to buy a pre-made transceiver, but could build my own, if a different enclosure was available.
As an aside, has anyone had heat problems with the plastic enclosure?
Cheers/73.
Chris

Re: Metal Enclosure?
Thanks, Ryan; that's helpful.
Has anyone had problems with the enclosure 'warping' in the sun? I maybe trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist. As I live in the UK, I didn't expect this to be an issue
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Metal Enclosure?
Chris,
I believe the trusdx case is made from petg and after testing petg vs pla for automotive interior parts the petg holds up to the heat much much better. The pla was like leaving a vinyl record in the sun! The only real difference that was in favor of pla was the petg was more brittle than the pla. I just purchase a trusdx and was looking at the aluminum case over the 3d printed one. The price difference was negligible. I plan to chuck the trusdx in a backpack and use it in the field. I can be a bit picky and scratching that nice anodized aluminum case would drive me nuts. I could care less chucking the 3d printed one around. Something to consider.

Re: Metal Enclosure?
As Ryan said, (tr)uSDX case was made from PETG for that exact reason.
I have one sitting in my trunk for almost 2 years now and it still shows no sign of warping or breaking.

Re: Metal Enclosure?
Perfect, guts.
Knowing that, I'll look to order a pre-built one to be sent to the UK, with a view that I can 'upgrade' if I decide to build the kit. From the QRPguys website, it doesn't look like the metal box makes an 'ekectrical' difference, such as screening.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Metal Enclosure?
Silly question, is the enclosure design available, to get a metal enclosure made, at third party manufacturers.
