Hi Bands - newbie question

Post by G0BLQ »

Hello
I have the low bands version. My question is if I purchased a hi bands rf board would I be able to replace the lo band board with this on a temporary basis and then swap back. Would the only other change be menu 8.7 band config or would I need to change anything else?
Many thanks

Technically, yes you can, there are even 3D plans to print a case that facilitates the ease of changing the boards from someone webz

I started down this road myself. What I discovered is that it's not the best plan.

Each time you handle the boards and pull them apart and push them together the pins holes take somewhat of a beating. Long term squishing and pulling them apart does not seem to offer longevity

Once I have a good radio, I screw it together and leave it until i wreck it. :)

If you do get a good radio going, add the protection diode for the finals, you will have a good rig to use.

I used the heck out of mine this past summer and had a good time with them as you see my other comments and pictures here. But always start with USB power till you can confirm good SDR before you hit the big power.
