old firmware - isp 2.0w available?

Post by DH1LL »

hello to all ,
glad I bought second hand (tr)usdx - classic bands.
Made some nice qso - no problem...
Updated the firmware to 2.0x and the microphone quality is bad not clear. Both internal and external microphone ...
I have the idea to reinstall to 2.0w as I bought this device but I can`t see from where I can download the file... can anyone help ?

Hi Lars and welcome. Your observation is correct, I too I share the opinion that 2.x is worse for ssb audio. If you are constrained to upload firmware via isp, you are limited to version x only. Previous versions cannot be retrieved. I asked for it too.

Hello Luca,
tnx for answering my post.
I am astonished that I cannot load earlier firmware.
Maybe I did not wrote correctly or I am not understanding the sense of firmware...
I download it to my laptop, then via usb c with avrdudes to the trusdx.
Is there really no chance to get the older firmware back on the radio (to try if it is better)

Hi Lars, yes if you can send the firmware to the trusdx with the microusb, following these instructions
https://dl2man.de/3b-trusdx-firmware/
In this case the firmware version is stable 2.i

If for any reason the first mode does not work, then send the beta firmware, version 2.x only, via the ISP port.

Unfortunately it is Guido's choice, but I also repeat I had asked to be able to recover an older beta firmware version, but nothing to do.

HI Luca,
tnx fpor your reply.
First of all - I don't see an isp plug in my case ...
I read the article you linked.

So far I noticed I can re-insatll the bootloader from usb ?
I don't have an ardunio ...
Image

When I turn the menu of my trusdx there ist 9.7 where I can select the firmware versions.
Is this a hint that bootloader is allready installed correctly ?

Where I get the FW 2.0 i from?

Is there a shortkey or procedure to reset the firmware or bootloader from my trusdx ?

I am very unhappy about the mic sound. I can not use the trx as I wanted to...
RX with lingua extractor device works fine (has a little amp so I can reduce the output of the trusdx)

Is there any other possibility why the tx audio is that bad ? peoply here me but diturbed signal.
I hear myself bach on a nerby sdr 5 km away. It sounds not nice :-(

Hi Lars, the isp port is on the underside, hidden by the enclosure. In any case, if you don't have Arduino one, you can't load the bootloader, because it only loads via ISP. But why do you have to charge it? If you go directly to download the stable firmware, 2.i, from the page I linked to you, solve the problem.
What firmware does the 9.7 menu display?
You have audio problems if you keep version 2.x, go back to 2.i.
Follow the link below
https://dl2man.de/3b-trusdx-firmware/

You will use Avrdudess, don't be fooled by the Arduino writing in the box at the top. Absolutely do not attempt to load the bootloader in this way. You already have the bootloader installed and running.

Hello Luca,
tnx for information. The FW 2.0i is not available on the link :-(
But I have done something ugly weird :
I downloaded a few files the pre-owner send to me.
Unfortunatly I picked the wrong file in the download file and loaded up
the bootloader over usb c with avrdudes.
The trusdx is now displaying my serial number but I cannot reach the trusdx via usb c to upload fw.
I probably mixed up and messed up everything being tired and not 100 % aware.
Is there a chance to reinstall ? Bootlaoder new via adruino? I dont have one but they are not so expensive via amazon. Just found the uno r.3 and cables around 20 euros.
But the big question is : can I repair this fault?

Hi Lars, it seems strange to me that the link does not allow you to get a stable version of the firmware. I was convinced that it was the 2. i. What version do you get? Enter your serial number first?
With an arduino uno module, you can load the bootloader with firmware 2.x via the isp port.
You have to go to the following link
https://dl2man.de/wp-content/uploads/20 ... /beta.html
And you have to activate the upload via ISP box. For further clarification read the post of my experience that I will put in a future message. 73 Luca

Remember that the beta firmware downloaded with the Isp option active, contains the bootloader inside.

Thank you again dr Luca,
there is so much to read and learn ...

This one will do fine ?
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0C1V3 ... AKPROLVYP5
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01EV7 ... 7WYXU5ZANW

Never had contact with adruino before ...

The preowner sent me a copy of the origin fw he had. I can't see which version. As far as I remember the 2.0 W was installed until I updated it to 2.0 X with my callsign an the audio trouble began ...

Hello Lars, the information I give you, I learned from other om here on the forum. I'm absolutely not an expert in Arduino, I try to get by reading in the various posts. In any case, let's try to solve your problem.
The arduino uno board and cables are what you need to load the bootloader through the ISP port. The procedure is described here
https://dl2man.de/3a-trusdx-bootloader/
You will also need to download arduino studio from this link
https://www.arduino.cc/en/software/
Once you have loaded the bootloader you can load the firmware that the previous owner sent you.

But before proceeding we need to understand if on your trusdx, the bootloader has deleted.

When you turn on the unit what does the OLED display show?
P. S. I am not able to determine if the file that hsi attached is actually version 2.w, do we assume that it is right?

Hello Luca,
thanks for helping me !
Today the uno and cables arrived. I am happy to learn abt it a little more...
As I startet with pc , there was xt processor and 20 mb disk.. windows ? DOS 3.2 I think..
Now this little uno ;-)

I will do this later in the week because there is a funeral of my ham friend on friday, only 59 y :-(

For now I can power up the trusdx and it shows me the serial number.

I think about to try uploading the file the preowner sent me via usb.
He told me that the bootloader was allready installed as he got the kit.
Is there a chance to damage more ? I think I'll give it a try in a good moment ´...

Besides the is an new post in this forum with microfone trouble with fw 2.0 W . Microphones does
not work at all ... seems to me I will by all chances get an older version then 2.0x

Hello Lars
If the serial number you see on the display is the same as the firmware sent to you by the previous owner, you could recharge via USB with avrdudess. The procedure is this:

https://dl2man.de/3b-trusdx-firmware/

Even if you insert the serial it downloads the stable version 2.i
