Transmit flickering after tuning the coils.

Post by quard »

I have fried the FTD86256. After replacing with a fresh one I tried to tune the coils but in some moment noticed weird behavior on PTT button press, transmission start flickering(switching on and off many times) and only after a while became on. My suggestion was that I have fried the new FET but replacing does not help. But now I have power output about 9-10W instead of 4.5W.

Also first time after power on when I switch the mode to CW it tries to transmit. The same behavior I have with and without RF board connected. EFF and PWR measurements seems ok because without RF board EFF is non and PWR is 0 or about it. And output power I have checked with external swr/power meter.

Voltages are fine, 5V and 12V or about 4.7V on USB. RVS voltage is less then 40mV in standby.

Does anyone have any suggestion what could cause the problem?

Hello ,
Sorry for the errors, it ain't good :(
I will never ever hit that transmit button without anything attached to the antenna
And always use USB power to test

The nan% error is some type of an open circuit. I have done it. My mistake was wrecking the long pinned connector between the boards when it happened to me.

A search of the error may be helpful

"nan" is totally fine in this case because RF board are not connected. My problem that power become is too high and I got flickering effect on PTT press.

Ok, I have found the issue with sending after reading reading the calibration manual again, somehow I have change the key from straight to the iambic. Pretty stupid)

But I still have the issue with power, it is quite high especially on the 15m and 10m, my power supply goes into CC on 1.5A while on 80m, 40 m and 20m consumption is ok and around 1A. Digging further...
