Can I use a generic laptop power supply?
What kind of DC input do I have to use on (tr)uSDX? can I use a generic 12 volt laptop power supply (or any other generic power supply below 14 volts given the header fits) or does it have to be a regulated power supply?

A regular laptop power supply can have a lot of ripple. For a laptop this is not critical because inside this voltage is converted again. When powering the transceiver from this source, there can be a lot of interference. Or there may not be. At least check with an oscilloscope that there are no emissions greater than 15 volts

A clear NO !
Use a clean Power Supply, rated for radio applications. If you don´t have that: Use Batteries.
(tr)uSDX is quite sensitive to Power Supply noise and Voltage spikes.
Garbage in - garbage out !

Hello OMs,
i would not buy a switching power supply for use with (tr)uSDX because they are not really super good in "no ripple on output" olympics
Meanwell is a well known good supplier for switching PSUs but:
I would simply use a battery as Manuel supposes a 3 x 18650 LiIon or a 4 x LiFePO4
or use a conventional linear regulated for example with LM7812 and a transformer
to be sure to don't feed the (tr)uSDX with garbage.
(tr)uSDX is extremly sensitive to "ripples" you will hear only these in the rx
