Did I get a counterfeit Legacy Board?

Post by n4rg »

So I ordered a Legacy Board Off the internet. I go to replace the RF board with the new one. Won’t fit. The pin header on the new board has round holes, whereas the Digital board has square pins. They won’t mate…..Left one is from the (tr)uSDX, right one is from the internet order. It also tells me that Q1-Q3 and L5 are not needed and Q4/Q5 are not populated on (tr)uSDX board, but Q5 is on the internet board.........

The order was placed with New DIY Tech (newdiytech@gmail.com, website: https://newdiytech.com/) which claims to be a DL2MAN authorized builder.

Hello OM,

where have you bought both? Left is a LO board and the right one a Classic band in my view.
The pin header could either be square or round depending maybe only when you bought it.
But it must match youtrmain board every time!

But one can not leave L15 (not L5 as you wrote) so i think you didn't buy from an approved seller!
So contact your seller get your money back if possible!
By the way: High and Classic band use only one FET so Q5 only is ok, but not the L15 missing.

I bought the original unit from Europe and it has worked flawlessly. I agree, I am wanting to get rid if 60/30m bands and use the classic bands. I agree as the pins and sockets won't fit.

I used links in original post showing from where it purchased the legacy board. Is there a link that is an APPROVED re-seller and I'll start over?

So is Q1-Q3 supposed to be installed on Legacy board?

Thanks!

Green ones were never produced by our only official (approved) supplier Sunny (NewDIYTech), so this one is very old and either from a group buy, from Javier in Spain or one infamous company in Romania.
Sunny uses round Pins from the very beginning, and they won´t fit the headers from any other source. Correct. While all Group buys and European sellers together did not produce more than 500 Units, Sunny (NewDIYtech) served the majority of the market, and can be considered the standard.

Too vague, please show proof of that claim, before your ruining the reputation of our official supplier. Where does it show that and how ?
hi and classic band boards use Q5 instead of Q1-Q3. True. But without L15 nothing works !
Just have a look at my assembly page, and most of your questions would have been clear: https://dl2man.de/2-trusdx-assembly/

This IS the ONLY autorized seller, but they sell only Kits of classic and hi band boards. So you must have assembled the blue one yourself.... The green one (from Europe) on the other side.... They never got approval in case of Romania and in case of Spain never even tried to get approval.

I believe the unit came from Romania then (definitely not Spain). Just my luck....go figure..

Yes, my mistake (and fat fingers) as I should have written L15 (which Chris caught earlier). That has been taken care of (I've wound the L15 coil and installed)

Yes, the blue board came from New DIY Tech (newdiytech@gmail.com, website: https://newdiytech.com/) and I assembled it myself. So looking at the BOM from the link https://dl2man.de/2-trusdx-assembly/ there are no part numbers to order the parts directly from Digikey or Mouser. Since the completed unit came from Romania (my assumption) I would need to change the header pin on the Main Board to match up with the Legacy board.

What is the 14 pin header Part Number that MATES (on the Digital board) to the Legacy RF board that I could order from either Mouser or Digikey?

Thanks,

Herb
