Hello everyone These are my impressions on the use of the firmware version 2.x.
I start by saying that I do not use cw because I do not know it so exclusively ssb.
I have two devices with the following characteristics
device A mainboard 1.0 firmware 2.m rf board lo
device B mainboard 1.2 firmware 2.x rf board classic
the power supplied by device A is about 2.5 watts
the power supplied by device B is about 4 watts
I mentioned the power as information because as Manuel said in one of his videos, differences in power of this level are not decisive for establishing contact, and this statement is absolutely true.
In any case, the use of version 2.x has not created any particular problems for me from the operational point of view of the menus, I have not yet found any bugs for which some feature no longer works correctly.
Unfortunately, however, I must say that SSB modulation is very penalized with version 2.x.
Both on device A and device B I set Noise Gate 2 and tx gate 4, filter 1k8.
More than once in pileups that are created with interesting stations, I started the call with the device with firmware 2.x and then closed it using the device with firmware 2.m.
The intelligibility of the signal with the device with firmware 2.m and is much higher than the 2.x.
Even the 999 counter on the display does not provide any help as it immediately goes into saturation.
For the moment these are my considerations and therefore I am using the device with firmware 2.x to do ft8 with CAT. 73
