*Bobbys* firmware

Post by KA1FT »

Hi all. I heard that *Bobby* has firmware to correct poor quality SSB transmit audio in the (tr)usdx, the usdx and clones. Has this firmware been incorporated into the latest trusdx firmware?
Is this firmware usable with the classic bands version?
I own a classic band trusdx and a USDX with WB2CBA's octoband board. Altho I would use these mainly for digital modes, I'd like to have the option of being able to transmit clean sounding SSB.
thanks

first of all:
I´ve removed his Callsign and replaced it by *Bobby*
Then:
your posting is a violation of the forum rules.

Using *Bobbys* Firmware is in violation of the (tr)uSDX CC-BY ND license as you´d actively bypassing the bootloader and our serial number system, and by that you lose our support.

*Bobby* is a free rider, a copycat that claims to have fixed stuff, when he actually flipped only some switches in Guidos uSDX source code (to understand the level of the required programming skills, look at this page: https://dl2man.de/software/)
You can tell that easily by looking at the fact, that after 1 year "his" software out there, it still has not even matched all original (tr)uSDX functionality. He only has the uSDX Source Code to play with so he doesn´t know how to implement all the (tr)uSDX Hardware features that were never published with a switch to flip for Bobby....

What this means in terms of SSB Quality:
Chinese uSDX clones were thrown on the market with an experimental switch flipped by the sellers of that thing. But that "switch" was never meant to be activated by anyone.
*Bobby* just un-flipped that switch and claimed to have solved a problem with "his own" firmware, that never existed, if chinese copycats would have known what they were doing.

(tr)uSDX never had that switch flipped, so nothing to solve for *Bobby*....

*Bobby* also was also very openly showing his disrespect for the whole project, basically shitting on our license, openly defending his rights to bypass our license and make whatever he wants.
Fortunately he now got a taste of his own medicine, when he realized that ALiExpress Sellers are now loading "His" *Bobby* Firmware for money, while he claims that to be a violation of "his" license, which would be non commercial. I thought open source was his motivation ?
In fact, "taking" parts of other peoples work, and use that commercially for "his" products for sale seems to be his business model. It is claimed, that a Panorama Adapter he sells is clearly using software parts of mcHF project, that never was open source.
This guy is a troublemaker. Avoid him and be happier.
