About 'SemiQSK’

I use it in SOTA CW. It is very good, but
In CW mode with 'SemiQSK' ON, the first character is missing when switching to receive.
So when I turn off 'SemiQSK' and use full break in, the key click noise during transmission is too loud and it is hard to use.
1. Is it possible to speed up the switching time between TX and RX for 'SemiQSK' ?
2. Is it possible to reduce the key click noise when transmitting ?

Hello OM Yoshihiro,

i think you maybe changed Att and Att 2 settings in Menue,
never had a problem with full bk and truSDX or the former uSDX.
Keep Att 2 at the default value.
You can reset by Pressing Tuning Knob at connecting your truSDX to power supply.
There is no possibility to change it in Menue.
Possible Hardware defect (maybe partly damaged) RXmute MosFet Q1 2N7002....

Hello OM Chris,
Thanks for your comment.

The ATT settings are still at default, I did a factory reset just to be sure, but it did not improve the situation.
I did a 30 minute test run today with 40mBand and was able to communicate with 11 stations without any problems. The output power was 3W.

I am only concerned about the key click noise.
When I turn on SemiQSK, I don't hear the noise, but the RX switching is slow and the first character is missing, so I can't communicate smoothly.

Hello OM Yoshihiro,

nice setup for Sota :D
I have an idea to maybe reduce the "click" between signs in CW QSK .... not sure only thought about the circuit.....
Perhaps you can check to change C14 10µF to a lower value, i think this possibly could reduce the loudness of the clicks. It is possible that the click is a result of a Pullup Resistor switched off/on in the Atmega328 when Audio output is switched from sidetone generating to RX and wise versa.
It is clear that reducing C14 will result in a higher cutoff frequency at the lower end in the audio signals.

Hi Yoshihirio,

Thanks for your feedback, that indicates some serious high speed cw to me. Way to go !
I did not realize the problems you describe, as I´m not using Full QSK regularly and I´m not that fast, so Semi QSK would swallow the first letter of the reply. So I will check if I can repeat your findings, and I´m already in contact with Guido about it.

Thank you for your replies, Chris and Manuel.

I have uploaded a video of the key click noise.

I will not be replacing the C14 capacitor as it is difficult to do.
I expect QSK timing to improve.

Version is 2.00i.

I have adjusted the RF board and am using it in Classic mode.

Hello Yoshihiro,

I have confirmed the bahavior on 3 Rigs, and we are trying to improve the behavior by Software.

Manuel,

This is great news and has been mentioned before but never addressed.
Thank you, I am also looking for your final results on 'key clicks'.
