Hi all
i builded my first truSDX this weekend and on first glance things starts to work.
As i am in the process of becoming a HAM i builded the kit fully exept for the 3 PA - FET's
Since i am not allowed to TX yet. And i don't have a dummyload yet
If i look on my waterfall on my SDR i see a carrier off around 80dBm on the recieve frequency off my
truSDX can this be that this is caused by the missing FET's ??
Should it be terminated where the gate normaly is connected perhaps ???

Re: In RX carrier on recieve Freq - no FET's
Local oscillator being seen on nearby sensitive receivers is relatively normal and to be expected.
Given you're seeing the carrier when in receive only, the transmit path isn't in scope and grounding or putting a 50ohm resistir across things there would have absolutely no effect.
It would normally be considered sufficient to not have the transmit path populated in your effort to not TX accidentally, given that any RF coming out of the radio in receive mode would be the same as or less than pretty much any other RF receiver ever built.
Tl;DR : It's a non-issue, feel free to completely ignore it. You'll have more RF coming from your phone charger.
(good luck with getting the license too..)

There is always the option to build the kit, then set the PRACTICE menu item to ON. This will not allow the unit to transmit, until you either get your license or get a dummy load.swl-jo21go wrote: ↑16 Oct 2022, 18:22 Hi all

Hi all
Thanks for your answers.
This was probally a novice question

thanks
