Heat Sink mod

Post by it9hre »

Hi everyone,
few time ago my FDT86256 fried without any apparent reason (see attached pic), but Sunny was so kind to send me another one.
Desoldering phase was a challenge.....but at the end I replaced it on the RF board!
In order to avoid overheating in case of intensive use I also added a simple heath sink coming from an old Raspberry Pi heat sink kit that I had in the shelf.
I soldered the heat sink with the cooling fin on the top of the MOSFET, then I added a layer of thermally conductive adhesive: the layer prevent also shortcuts between RF and main boards.
I hope this mod can be helpful for someone else.
