Hi all!

https://dc2o.de will be on the air with the (tr)uSDX this friday 2022-01-21 from 15:00 UTC with no fixed end time - let's see what happens!

We will work on 80m, 40m and 20m in SSB and CW. QTH is JN37XW

Starting QRG and band will be announced here on friday at activation time.

Please spot and work us ("cq truSDX")!

Best 73,
Stephan, Marcel and maybe more of us. ;)

Congrats!! I like your integrated battery pack ... what batteries did you use? I have been looking at Li-Ion and it appears that the voltage would either be low or need to be regulated, so I am curious which way you went and how it works!

Thanks!

Hello Bill,

the (tr)uSDX works on a wide voltage range. The manual says up to 16V (see: https://dl2man.de/4-trusdx-manual/).

Since the mcu and other ICs only takes about the ~80mA the drop and heat on the 7805 is never that critical.

I have 4 x LiIon cells (the shorter ones 18350), yes. Completely full charged 16.2...16.4V. No problems with that. But you can use 3 of them. too. Manuel uses 3x18650 in a battery holder like this https://www.ebay.de/itm/113270001353?ha ... 1a5f6b0ec9. He has a smart solution to plug it under the trUSDX. @Manuel, would you like to post an image of your solution?

So you see... in general you do not need to regulate the voltage.

I made a QSO with R900DM, with truSDX, powered by 5V USB.
At 14 MHz, my station, in CW, have an output of 0.32W (at 5V!).
The distance is about 1380 km.
The antenna is an Inv-V, in the 80m band.

Thank you all for calling us!

It was a lot of fun although a loose contact in an antenna cable was nerving a bit. (:

For the first time we heard a (tr)uSDX on the air... DL2MAN was calling us with his one and I was amazed how good his SSB audio sounded (it exceeded my expectations). Besides this: We were working PE1NNZ in CW and SSB, too (CW with DL2MAN of course too) and many other stations that already ordered a (tr)uSDX.

But what are your experiences? Would be nice to have some feedback here in the channel, too. If not, doesen't mind. ;)

Thank you again and with the best from...

Hey Stephan and members of DC2O,

I'm super happy that I could do a contact with DC2O on 80m in CW at 18:07. I watched the different QRGs but I could only hear you in CW at my noisy QTH in the center of Würzburg.
Still very impressive that I could hear your QRP station.

Thanks for the nice event! And maybe you could add a QSL card to my truSDX package ;) Can't wait for it to arrive and do some portable operation.

Hello Chris.

Thank you for your feedback. We were very pleased to hear from you. Glad it worked out.

It's great fun with the (tr)uSDX. Maybe we will hear each other soon in a (tr)uSDX 2 (tr)uSDX QSO :-)
