My First (tr)uSDX mod

Post by jerryk »

So I pulled the encoder and replaced it with a nice Bourns unit withOUT detents - that I had left over from another project. Now it tunes nice & smooth. HOWEVER there is one problem. It tunes the wrong way :(.
So I guess I need to get in there and cross the A & B pins. I'll just lift the pins of the encoder and put a little wire from each pin to the opposite side - no actual trace cuts required.

Greeting-

I think it should be possible to flip the direction in the firmware. I have not looked at the source code, but I expect it would be a simple matter to do.

Firmware is not open source. It has to be done by Guido.
But in sandwich project it was easy to flip it, and i am not a programmer…

I would have definitely flipped it in software if I had the source.

Somebody asked which Bourns part I used. Actually, I'm not sure.
None of them have part numbers printed on the body.
My receipts file shows the following P/N's

PEC11R-4015F-S0024
PEC11L-4020F-S0020
PEC11L-4015F-S0015

They're all the PEC11 series. The "L" and "R" tell which way it rotates.
The "S" means they have a switch.
The "40" means that it has the right stick-out-the-back pins, and no detents.
The 0024 or 0020 or 0015 show how many pulses it produces per revolution.
