Heat sink for FDT86256?

Post by Dirkus »

There are small adhesive backed heat sinks for components like microcontrollers and voltage regulators available for things like the Raspberry Pi, would there be any advantage to plopping one of those on the back of the PA FET on boards using the surface mount FETs? There’s slip-on ones for TO-92 packages like the BS-170’s as well. Just thinking out loud, but has anyone tried it? If so, was there less power fade on long transmissions? Better handling of poor SWR? Overall longer service life?
